This layout has a junction allowing the station to be fed by two fiddle yards. The interlocking of the signals will only allow one route to be set at a time: lever 1 - station to fiddle yard one where the red controller drives. lever 5 - fiddle yard one to station where the blue controller drives. levers 3 and 2 - station to fiddle yard two where the green controller drives. levers 3 and 4 - fiddle yard two to station where the blue controller drives. The signal lever will operate a micro-switch that activates relays and determines the driving rules. There is no need for additional switching.
The station may have extra facilities such as a goods loop, a goods yard, loco shed and a bay. These would have their own starting signals and being interlocked only one train will depart as
